Cardinal Named One of P&I’s Best Places to Work in Money Management for Sixth Year in a Row
Cardinal Investment Advisors has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Money Management by Pensions & Investments for the sixth year in a row. Cardinal received this award from 2015 to 2020 and is proud to be recognized for striving to offer its 39 employees a top-notch working environment year after year.
As one of the recipients of the Best Places to Work award, Cardinal provides excellent retirement benefits—in fact, employees who defer 7% of their salary to their 401(k) receive a 13.5% contribution from the firm. Additionally, they coordinate fun and adventurous group activities, including charitable services, go-kart races, mud runs, demolition-ball and kickball games.
This past year, Cardinal strove to create a functional and friendly work environment in light of a global pandemic and shelter-in-place requirements. To adjust to these circumstances, they decided to send all employees gift cards for takeout or delivered dinner directly to employees’ families. During the summer, they also had ice cream hand-delivered to each employee’s home with a note giving team members an extra Friday off work to “chill out.”
“Cardinal was founded to provide a high-touch, service-oriented and analytically driven consulting capability to clients. The managing directors of the firm are committed to using a similar approach internally with our most valuable asset—our people,” said Sean Kane, a Managing Director at Cardinal. “We aim to continuously assess and improve the work experience for our colleagues through frequent dialogue, collegial interactions and annual assessment of our culture and work life balance proposition.”
Pensions & Investments worked with a leading workplace expert to produce the 2020 Best Places to Work in Money Management list of top companies. Best Companies Group, Harrisburg, Pa., undertook a two-step process to develop the list, designed to gather detailed data about each organization. To participate, a firm had to have at least 20 employees in the U.S., have at least $100 million of discretionary assets under management or advisement and be in business for at least one year.
Cardinal Investment Advisors is a 100% employee-owned, independent firm focused solely on institutional investment consulting. After 19 years, this remains their sole line of business. Cardinal’s mission is to serve institutional investors with unique liability streams by developing, implementing and sustaining customized investment strategies that best enable their clients to fulfill their investment and operating goals in an independent and conflict-free manner.
